"Why haven't you called me yet?"
"Neil, really? Why haven't I called you? I haven't called you because I wasn't up yet. You told me to call you when I woke up, not at a certain time." Natalie could feel her annoyance start to build up already. She looked at the clock. 8 a.m. On a Saturday.
"What time are you coming to get me?" Neil Wellington asked. He ignored her annoyance. He knew she was just tired. She wasn't really angry with him.
Natalie sighed. Neil didn't have a car. He used his mother's car, but when she was at work, he was stuck unless she wanted to come get him. To make it worse, he didn't have a job to even save up money to get a car. Not a real job anyway. He worked one day a week at a local restaurant for minimum wage. "I'll be there around noon," she finally answered him.
"Noon? But I've got nothing to do until you come get me! What am I going to do until noon?"
"Fine. 10. Give me time to shower and get something to eat." She hung up the phone without saying she loved him. She did love him...but sometimes it was just too hard to continue talking to him after he acted like that.
At that same time, Noah Fitzgerald's phone was ringing continuously, but he did not answer it. He knew who it was going to be. After the ringing finally stopped, he got up and went to his phone. Missed calls? Only the one. Natasha. Why couldn't she just leave him alone?
Just a bit later his phone made the familiar sound of a voicemail received. Heaving a great sigh, he dialed and listened.
"Hey Noah. It's me. Natasha." Her short, choppy sentences drove him insane even now. "Uhm, I was just hoping that we could talk for a little while. You know, just to catch up. It's been FOREVER since we last got to talk and I miss talking to you. Really, you should be the one calling me since I called you last time. I don't know. Just. Text me or something! Bye!"
He pressed end and put down his phone. He wasn't going to call her back anytime soon. Instead, he went over to his computer and logged onto his messenger. "Shoot," he said aloud. She wasn't online. Maybe he would catch Natalie later.
He crawled back into bed and ignored his phone again as it started to ring...
Mona Worthington quietly opened her home's door. She knew if she opened it slowly enough, it wouldn't give the obvious squeak of a daughter not home by curfew.
She got in without making a sound and walked into her bedroom. She changed and crawled into bed, making sure to appear as if she had been there all night by ruffling her blankets and throwing her pillow on the floor. She couldn't believe she had stayed out all night with Dimitri. It hadn't been her intention, but she just lost track of time.
They had gone to a party the night before. It was Friday night, so of course they had. Everyone did. She ended up dancing just a little too wild, laughing just a little too loud, and drinking just a little too much. She had fallen asleep around 3 a.m. in the basement of a house she really didn't know. She had woken up a few hours later with Dimitri on a couch across the room. There were a lot of people passed out on the floor and on the couches. She was just surprised that Dimitri hadn't made sure she was safe. She didn't remember anything about the night, so he probably did try to make her safe. Why wouldn't he?
Mona knew she should have called home and made up some excuse about where she was going to be all night. But she didn't think she was actually going to be out all night. Besides, it's not like they really cared anyway. They wouldn't care if she never came home.
Mona quietly started crying. Before she knew it, her entire pillow was covered with her tears. And right after that, she realized that the alcohol was coming back on her. She ran to the bathroom, making it just in time.
She didn't realize that Gwen had been watching from her cracked door the entire time.
